Laura Apitz currently serves as the Head of Pathology Lab Customer Area within Roche Diagnostics Solutions, a position she was appointed to in December 2025. Based in Tucson, Arizona, Laura brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of leadership to this critical role, steering the strategic direction of Roche’s pathology lab business.

Laura’s journey with Roche Tissue Diagnostics began in 2016. During her tenure, she has been instrumental in product strategy and development, successfully holding two distinct Lifecycle Leader positions. Her contributions have been vital in advancing Roche’s portfolio and market presence within the diagnostic field.

Prior to her current role and joining Roche Tissue Diagnostics, Laura gained extensive experience across the diagnostics industry. She held the position of Director of Global Marketing, Microbiology at Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, where she focused on market expansion and driving the global strategy for the microbiology product lines.

Her career spans over three decades in the diagnostics field, marked by various senior and influential positions. Notably, she spent considerable time at Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, where she served as Senior Director of Global Marketing for Micro & Molecular Biology. In this capacity, she was responsible for guiding the global marketing strategy and operations for a highly complex and rapidly evolving segment of diagnostic testing.

Within the Pathology Lab, Laura has distinguished herself as a strong, results-oriented leader. She previously held key roles, including Lifecycle Leader for Oncology Assays, where she shaped the development and commercialization strategy for assays vital in cancer diagnosis and treatment selection. Beyond product-focused leadership, Laura has been a champion for organizational excellence and cultural change. She led the Pathology Lab’s adoption of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), significantly improving the efficiency and responsiveness of the development process. Furthermore, she spearheaded initiatives to improve cross-functional decision-making, fostering a more collaborative and clear strategic environment. A hallmark of her leadership is the implementation of routine Gemba Walks, a practice that physically connects the leadership team with the daily work and people across the Tucson campus, ensuring continuous improvement and direct engagement with operational realities. She is also widely known for her commitment to mentoring, nurturing, and growing the talent within her teams, building strong future leaders for the organization.

Ms. Apitz is an academic professional, holding a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Medical Technology from the University of New England, located in Biddeford, Maine, USA.
