Joel Rohlik
Arizona Daily Star
Joel is general manager of the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson, Arizona. In this role he is responsible for all business operations of the newspaper including financial analysis and reporting, information technology and facility operations. He previously held positions of controller and vp of finance at the newspaper.
Before moving to Tucson in 2003 he held similar positions at a newspaper in central Minnesota. In addition to business management in the newspaper industry he held various accounting supervision and management roles in retail while working at the corporation headquarters for Herberger’s, a women’s fashion retailer serving the Midwest.
Joel served in the United States Army Reserve for 13 years where he attained the rank of Captain. He has been active in volunteer work including time as a leader in Cub/Boy Scouts, Junior Achievement, American Red Cross, the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona (treasurer, chair, vice chair), USS Tucson 770 Club (treasurer), various school organizations and church groups. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Saint John’s University (MN) with additional undergrad studies at St. Cloud State University.
While not busy with work or volunteering, Joel spends time with his wife Molly, their six children and eleven grandchildren.
