Sarah Smallhouse

Sarah Smallhouse is President of the Brown Foundations in Tucson. The principal focus areas are STEM education, Workforce Development, and Civic Leadership and Democracy. Grant recipients include the University of Arizona, Pima Community College, the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, the Center for the Future of Arizona, Arizona Town Hall, and the Flinn-Brown Fellowship Program. The Foundations also fund professional development programs for K-12 teachers in math and economics.

Sarah is a Tucson native and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Washington in Economics, her MBA from the University of Arizona, and an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School. She has served on the boards of multiple colleges at the UA and on the SALC board for 15 years. She continues to co-chair the SALC Governance Focus Area. She is a past chair of the University of Arizona Foundation Board and co-chaired the Arizona Now capital campaign.

She and her husband, David, have two adult children, Tom Smallhouse and Laura Smallhouse Canning.
